1. BPSC AEDO Exam Pattern 2026

The examination is conducted in an offline OMR-based format consisting of three papers. While Paper 1 is a hurdle you must cross, your final selection depends entirely on your performance in Papers 2 and 3.

Critical Rules:

1. Qualifying Marks: You must score a minimum of 30% in Paper 1 (30 marks total). Failure to qualify Paper 1 means Papers 2 and 3 will not be evaluated.

2. Negative Marking: A penalty of 0.33 (1/3rd) is applied for every wrong answer. This is stricter than many other state exams, making accuracy paramount.

3. Language: Questions are provided in both English and Hindi (except for the Language paper).

• Geography: Physical and economic geography of India and Bihar (Special focus on Rivers like Ganga/Kosi and Agriculture).

• General Science: Basic Physics, Chemistry, and Biology (NCERT Class 6–10 level).

Paper 3: General Aptitude (Merit Segment)

This paper tests logical reasoning and mathematical proficiency.

• Mathematics: Number System, Ratio & Proportion, Percentage, Average, Profit & Loss, Simple & Compound Interest, Time & Work.

• Logical Reasoning: Analogies, Syllogism, Blood Relations, Direction Sense, Coding-Decoding, and Series Completion.

• Data Interpretation: Reading and analyzing Pie Charts, Bar Graphs, and Tabular data.

• Computer Basics: Fundamental knowledge of MS Office, Internet, and E-Governance.

3. Preparation Strategy for the April 2026 Exam

Since the exam is scheduled for mid-April, candidates should follow this 45-day intensive plan:

1. The "Bihar Special" Edge: Spend at least 2 hours daily on Bihar-specific History, Geography, and current schemes. This often accounts for 25% of Paper 2.

2. Master the 1/3 Negative Marking: Practice with OMR sheets. If you are unsure about two options, it is safer to skip than to guess, given the high penalty.

3. Language Check: Do not spend too much time on Paper 1, but ensure you are scoring at least 40-50 marks in mock tests to stay safe.

4. Math Accuracy: Quantitative Aptitude is purely logic-based. Focus on "Ratio" and "Percentage" as they form the base for Data Interpretation questions.
