5. Detailed Exam Syllabus 2026

The DSSSB Combined Exam follows a tiered structure. Tier-I is generally for screening, while Tier-II (where applicable) determines merit.

A. Tier-I Syllabus (General Sections - 200 Marks)

This section is common for all posts including ASO and Legal Assistant.

  1. General Awareness: Current events, History, Constitution, Sports, Art & Culture, Economics, Everyday Science, and National/International Organizations.

  2. General Intelligence & Reasoning: Analogies, Similarities, Space visualization, Problem solving, Analysis, Decision making, Visual memory, Arithmetical reasoning, and Verbal/Figure classification.

  3. Arithmetical & Numerical Ability: Number Systems, Decimals, Fractions, L.C.M., H.C.F., Ratio & Proportion, Percentage, Average, Profit & Loss, Simple & Compound Interest, Mensuration, Time & Work, Time & Distance, and Data Interpretation.

  4. Hindi Language & Comprehension: Understanding of Hindi Language, Vocabulary, Grammar, Sentence Structure, Synonyms, and Antonyms.

  5. English Language & Comprehension: Basic English Grammar, Sentence Correction, Idioms & Phrases, Vocabulary, and Comprehension.

B. Tier-II Syllabus (Post Specific)

  • For JE/AE (Civil): Detailed Engineering subjects including Strength of Materials, Structural Analysis, RCC Design, Steel Design, Fluid Mechanics, Surveying, Soil Mechanics, and Environmental Engineering.

  • For Legal Assistant: Constitutional Law, Civil Procedure Code (CPC), Criminal Procedure Code (CrPC), Evidence Act, Contract Act, Administrative Law, and Drafting of Pleadings.

  • For ASO (Descriptive): Essay Writing (in English), Letter Writing/Expansion of Ideas.

6. Application Fee

  • Fee: ₹100.00

  • Exempted: Women, SC, ST, PwBD, and Ex-Servicemen are not required to pay any fee.
